“Year 2012: A Time of Opportunity”
Sometimes things do happen and we find ourselves holding back and not striving to be the best that God created us to be. There are times when we find ourselves enslaved to the same old habits, the same old complaints, the same old disagreements, the same old fears, the same old faults, and sometimes the same old friends, and we fail to live up to our full potential that God the Father has planned for us and that Jesus secured for us when He came down through forty-two generations and was born, lived, died, and was resurrected for us.

“Some Things to Think About in Year 2012, Part 2”
Our thoughts or our thinking form the foundation of our actions. It starts with a thought. That thought can take root and then we find ourselves doing things that will benefit us or we find ourselves doing things that are detrimental to ourselves or others.

“Some Things to Think About in Year 2012”
The people that we refer to as God’s people are people who are obedient to Him and follow Him as opposed to following the ways of Satan. That is why in some translations, it is using the word pure in heart, a term that is used to specify those whose motives are right and are seeking to obey God. God is good to His people.

“God and the New Year”
Since this is a new year, it is good to start with the first book and first chapter of the Bible. This is the beginning of the creation story. Since it is the creation story, why not look at it since we are in a new year.

"Jesus Was Born"
Today is Christmas. All over the world, people are celebrating the birth of God’s son who was born in a barn and placed in a manger. A manger was just a feeding trough for the barn animals. The baby grew up to be a man. He did live and when He was thirty-three years old, He died on a cross. God resurrected Him from death and now He sits on the right hand of God making intercession for all of us.

“Peace Before Christmas”
The theme for the fourth Sunday of Advent is peace. The Hebrew word for peace is shalom. It is used as a greeting and it is used when someone is leaving or departing. Peace is needed in our world today and to be clearer, God’s peace is needed in our world today. Human peace has limits, therefore it will not last. However, God’s peace will last, as a matter of clarification, it can last through eternity.

“Let’s Talk About Joy”
The theme for the third Sunday of Advent is joy. The Hebrew word for joy is chedvah, and it means gladness. The Greek word for joy is chara, which means cheerfulness, calmness, or a calm delight. Do you have joy in your life?

Idols in the Heart
An idol, according to the American Heritage dictionary, is “an image used as an object of worship or one that is adored as an object or person to worship and that it is something visible, but without substance.” The Bible addresses this in terms of the Ten Commandments which we find in the book of Exodus, chapter 20.

Reversing Our Order
The people needed to reverse some things that had occurred in their thinking and in the church. There were some false teachers in the church and they were teaching things that undermined the central New Testament doctrine of justification by faith, meaning that we are saved by faith as we accept Jesus as savior, the same Jesus who was born, lived, died, and was resurrected from death.
