Sermon Notes (July 4, 2010)
This Paul and Silas were preaching and teaching. However, they were not welcomed in Thessalonica. The people in Thessalonica, according to the earlier verses in chapter 17, were moved with envy and some of the evil men caused an uproar in the city. They dragged Jason, who was one of the local men and some other believers before the city authorities and said “Those who have turned the world upside down have come here.” Jason had to post bond for his freedom. Some of the beleivers got Paul and Silas out of town and they traveled to Berea. The people in Berea listened to the word and searched the scriptures daily. As a result of that, many people believed. Those in Thessalonica were in bondage when Paul and Silas got there, and many stayed in bondage; not necessarily physical bondage, but spiritual bondage. The people of Berea listened; then they studied or searched the scriptures to make sure that what Paul and Silas said was scripturally accurate. tomorrow.
